Individual Therapy
Providing therapy to clients who are experiencing difficulties in their daily life caused by trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment or relationship difficulties, mood or behavioral disorders, OCD, grief, etc. Therapy services are trauma-informed and client-centered with a variety of techniques.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
EMDR therapy is utilized to assist clients with processing traumatic memories that cause distressing symptoms in the present. This is a structured form of therapy designed to allow our brains to initiate processing outside of the traditional talk-therapy modalities. EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation to create new neural pathways in the brain to reduce or desensitize painful memories. FAQs
-
The therapeutic relationship is very important to the treatment process. You are welcome to contact our team to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call to discuss any questions about our services. Contact Olakino Counseling now!
-
The first step will be completing a 15-minute consultation call to determine suitability for services. If we decide it’s a good fit, our team will send you all the necessary intake and consent forms for treatment. You will have an opportunity to discuss questions after reviewing the forms, then once completed you will meet for your initial intake session via telehealth videoconferencing. The initial session will require the completion of additional assessments and you and your therapist will spend time building rapport. You will continue with sessions and frequency will be determined based on treatment needs. Once you have met your treatment goals, you and your therapist will look at planning for termination of services.
-
You may consider therapy if you have noticed significant changes in your sleeping or eating habits, loss of interest in hobbies or things you enjoy, crying spells, unhealthy habits causing problems with work or relationships, codependency, you’ve experienced a trauma or have unresolved childhood trauma, feelings of hopelessness, finding yourself isolating from others, etc.
-
First, you will need to contact our team to schedule a consultation call. During that call, you will have the opportunity to discuss your availability and preference for a therapist, then schedule your initial appointment.
-
Your time and finances are important which we do respect. However, we do recommend meeting weekly or at least initially until we are able to strengthen the therapeutic alliance. EMDR trauma processing should be completed with weekly sessions.
